Triton Financial/Heisman Winners Anniversary Weekend Returns to Austin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Some of college football’s greatest legends will again participate in historic weekend at Barton Creek Resort & Spa

DALLAS (Feb. 6, 2008) – Austin will again play host to a gathering of college football royalty, as the second annual Triton Financial/Heisman Winners Association Anniversary Weekend tees off June 26-28 at the Barton Creek Resort & Spa. This year’s event will honor the 50th anniversary of Pete Dawkins winning the award at Army, the 25th anniversary of Mike Rozier at Nebraska, and the 10th anniversary of Ricky Williams at Texas.

Last year, 21 Heisman Winners attended the inaugural festivities, making the event the second largest gathering of Heisman Winners ever and the largest outside of New York City. As many winners, if not more, are expected to attend this year.

A portion of the proceeds from this special weekend (which includes a star-studded golf tournament and VIP celebration events) support the HWA Foundation. Tournament playing spots, tickets to the events, and partnership opportunities are available by dialing (512) 692-4942.

“We had a great time last year in Austin,” said HWA Chairman Archie Griffin, the former Ohio State standout and only two-time Heisman winner (’74, ’75). “We made many new friends and I think everyone that attended the event had a great time. We are looking forward to an equally wonderful event this summer.”

“Austin has come to embrace this event. This is a college football town and it can get pretty tough around here in the summer without any football. We think this weekend is a great way to whet the football appetite. It really gets you excited for the fall,” said the event’s title sponsor, Kurt Barton, President/CEO of Triton Financial.

The Triton Financial/HWA Anniversary Weekend will be highlighted by events guaranteed to thrill fans of all ages. On Thursday, June 26, golf participants will join Heisman Winners for a special “pairings party.” The next morning, Friday, June 27, Heisman Winners and their playing partners will tee-off on Texas’ top-rated resort golf course, the Fazio Foothills, in the Triton HWA Anniversary Winners Classic. The action begins with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. Each VIP foursome will feature a Heisman Winner and the shamble format (with Stableford scoring) guarantees plenty of time for story-telling and reminiscing between strokes.

Later that evening, the Winners, golf participants, and VIP ticket holders will gather for dinner in Barton Creek’s Darrell Royal Ballroom to pay tribute to Dawkins, Rozier, and Williams. Once again this year, the event will be filmed and made into a television special on Fox Sports Network Southwest.
